Today was a very exciting day for everyone, except for those who were sick. In between our breakfast and lunch of rice and beans, we went on a hike around the secondary forest. We saw a couple poison dart frogs, including a lime green and black one and some strawberries, a two toed sloth from afar, and a family of capuchin monkeys in the trees. We were all very entertained with the long walk home along a very muddy road, which sucked us in, forcing us to almost lose a couple boots, and then a very rocky road. It was obvious that not too many vehicles make their way to El Zota field station.
The omega group pulled in as a handful of us were playing soccer with the locals. After saying our hellos we waited for them to finish the orientation, so the barbecue could start. We were told we were going to learn how to salsa, but instead we all sort of jumped on the dance floor after eating our burgers. Everyone ended up partnering with every student by the end. Kojo, who is totally against dancing in every way, even danced his little heart out. Israel interrupted a couple times to show us how to really do it. He said he didn't know what he was doing, but it sure looked like he got all the different spins down. The night ended with the Macarena, some pool, and an alpha versus omega fusball match, in which we dominated. We headed to bed, after packing, for the early rise in the morning.
