Natalie Cassello
WHO AM I
I used to complain about how I never travelled outside of the United States, traveled on a plane before, or even seen bright blue water. Then my mom would tell me, "That's not true you've been to Canada." She was referring to the drive we went on to get ice cream while in Maine. I was probably two, so I never really checked Canada off my list of countries I've visited. Now, I'm traveling with my high school and spending each trimester in different country and I am supposed to graduate high school in Canada. My first plane ride was 20 hours from New York to Auckland, New Zealand, otherwise known as the City of Sails. My mom hasn't heard me complain about wanting to travel in a while.
My name is Natalie Cassello. I am a crazy haired, fifteen-year-old American who is living a dream come true. I was given a once in a lifetime chance to attend the world's first traveling boarding school, THINK Global School. I travel the world will also receiving an International Baccalaureate Diploma Program education.
While being a world traveler may seem like it takes up a lot of my time, I also enjoy doing many things. For one, I am a photographer. I love capturing my experiences and sharing them with others. I have recently taken up videography as well. I enjoy all forms of art really, ranging from drawing Maori style tattoos to making rings. Have I mentioned that I've also been playing the piano for ten years? It's true. I've memorized all six pages of "Für Elise", along with "Canon in D", "The River Flows", and Célin Dion's "My Heart Will Go On." I've also played soccer (aka. football) since I was about four years old. Oh yeah, and in my spare time, I go to school.
My dream is to become a neonatal doctor and travel to third-world countries to set up camps to help decrease infant mortality rates. With the travels and IB education, which TGS provides me, I think this goal may just be possible. Check my blog in a couple years and I'll tell you where I am in life. Before that, I'll post most of my wonderful experiences from New Zealand, Costa Rica, Greece, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkey (briefly), the Netherlands, Italy, Bhutan, Thailand, Peru, the United States, Mexico, Morrocco, Portugal (briefly), Canada, etc.
I felt the need to elaborate on my blog's title a little bit more. "Drifting" obviously is a synonym for traveling, and "karma" is another word for fate or destiny. It is a term meaning what goes around comes back around. So, my blog could literally mean traveling in circles, but it does have another meaning. Karma, even though it's not spelled with English characters, means "star" in Dzongkha, which is the language spoken in Bhutan. When coming up with a name for my website, I thought it had to be creative, but also represent me, so I decided on "Drifting Karma," or "Traveling Star."
